Angelica Grim with the Doerfels

Angelica Grim, at 17 years old, has been singing since she was able to talk. Taught to sing by her musician dad, she got into bluegrass at the ripe age of 3. Picking up the guitar when she was 13 to accompany herself, she is also now a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Since her first performance in 2003, she’s performed with this likes of Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, The Infamous Stringdusters, Randy Kohrs, Marty Raybon, and James King. Raised around the California Bluegrass Association, Angelica has become a part in the leadership of the association and is currently their Teenage Ambassador. Said to be the "little girl with the big voice" Angelica's music is traditional bluegrass with a new twist.

With an average age of 15 years, the Doerfels are a real family band in every sense of the word. Headed by TJ (banjo), Kimberly (fiddle), Ben (guitar), Eddy (mandolin), and Joey (bass), the band also incorporates every one of the 11-member family at some point in the show. They have played some of the best concert and festival venues in the country, including Chautauqua County’s own Mayville Bluegrass Festival, where band appeared with such bluegrass greats as Vassar Clements, Roland White, Chris Hillman, and Herb Pedersen.

Covering nearly all aspects of the Bluegrass genre, the Doerfels display expert musicianship and vocals, while leading the audience through an old-fashioned "living room" music experience that brings everything that a large, close family represents - from the tender to the chaotic.

The Midweek Vespers is a weekly music and arts-based worship service with a minimum of spoken word. It is presented every Wednesday in Hurlbut Church, Pratt at Scott Avenues, Chautauqua NY. “Faith Weaver,” a children’s supervised bible experience, is provided separately during the service.

The community is welcome, free of charge, to every Vespers service and dinner. For information, visit www.hurlbutchurch.org or call 716.753.2800
